VW Polo 1.4TDi will not start |
|
Hi,
Last night my VW Polo 1.4TDi would not start. Engine turned over OK but would not fire. Then noticed that the Glow Plug light was flashing. Called Breakdown and was recovered. This morning the garage connected the car to a scanner but this did not identify any problems. Car now starts OK, but worried this could happen again. Would be grateful for any suggestions.

Hi Mike, You are in a situation that is very hard to diagnose. I simply do not have enough experience with your model to tell you where to start. Might even be your key switch starting to act up. Good luck Allan

Thanks Allan,
These intermittent faults are the worst to diagnose. I'll probably have to wait until it happens again.
Cheers

Well, as expected the Polo let me down again last night. Same symptoms, engine turning but won't fire, and again the glowplug light flashing. This time I was able to get a mechanic with the VW software to diagnose the problem while it was still occurring. Turns out the problem is the Crankshaft position sensor or the associated wiring. Hope that I can get it sorted this time!!
