replaced heater core, cold air |
|
replaced the heater core on ,my 96 passat glx and its not blowing hot air just cold. Any ideas why? Also theres a slight antifreeze smell
|

were you able to get the same amount of antifreeze back in if not you could have air in the system and the coolant is not curculating properly thats one possiblity. you probibly rueled out the T stat and the doors in the heater box if your puting in a new core, so Iwill leave it at that for now. hope you find the troubles. good luck!

whats the t stat? and if by the doors you mean the metal doors with holes in them that should be covered with foam...i read later after posting this they had foam on them...mine do not. what kind of foam and where can i get it?

Hey sorry about that! T stat just means thermostat
for the foam you can check at the hardware store for foam tape, you could put it on in strips I would just use a little 3M super 77 spray glue with it or the rightstuff silicone by permatex.
you could check out an upolstrey place they might have some thin foam there you could put it on in one sheet.
The foam is nothing special that I know of probibly the less air bubbles in the better.
