Hi,

I've a mark 6 (I think) polo 53 plate, its only done 35,000. Last week my water warning light came on, stopped and topped up the water. As it was dark it was very difficult to see where the level was at. the light had gone off once topped up prob about a pint of water. I was only a mile from home, I thought I'd check it again a week later to be sure - the level was very low again another pint of water. 8 or so miles later seems like its dropped again, I've checked for visible leaks there isnt anything to be seen. Evil or Very Mad

I'm reluctant to take it to vw as theyve just told me would cost £70 Surprised just to plug in their machine to test it Crying or Very sad !!! The only other option I have is to get the radiator pressure tested by a local garage.

Has anyone any ideas?

Hello from Canada, MMMMM Have a real carefull look at your water pump. When the seal begins to fail they are really hard to diagnose. Putting this on their computer will not help diagnose this issue. Perhaps a leak can be spotted using a pressure test . Perhaps not. You may also be developing a head gasket leak. Again this is not a computer issue. Sometimes you may also have a under dash heater core issue. I suggest your first line of inquiry would best be a pressure test at local garage that you trust. I hope its something minor . If it turns out to be a bad water pump, I would also replace my timing belt at the same time. Allan
