EPC Light On Intermittently (Polo 2006 1.6) |
|
Hi,
I have a 2006 Polo Classic 1.6 and over the past 2 months the EPC light has come on intermittently. The car doesn't lose power or show any adverse effects with the light being on. I took it to the VW dealer who said he could only check if the light was still on and the engine running when I brought it in to them (he asked if my driving style had changed, which it hadn't, and then assured me it was fine to drive??). Is there a way for them to check what the problem is?
I can't tell when it happens - some mornings I can drive the 25km to work and it won't come on at all, but other mornings it will come on a few minutes into driving and stay on the whole trip.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do or ask about at my VW dealer?
Thanks!

Hello, try typing EPC in your search engine. Seems others are sharing this issue. Allan

EPC |

Hi there
My Polo 1.4 has been doing the same for the past 4 months. The garage could not point out any cause with all the computers that's connected.
It did get worse, my car started to idle strange later the light went one more often. The car started loosing power after a while. Last week in traffic the revs would go below 500 and the battery cut out the whole time. I had to restart my car a few times and over rev the car so that it would not stall. I parked for an hour- after that it was fine again. I took my car in again and had it on the computer. This time it did indicate a pressure oxygen flow problem. This happens when braking alot that the car's flow is interrupted. The EPC light goes on to indicate a fault. The car will loose power later or stall in order to protect the engin. They have cleaned out my Oxygen something plugs and fuses. It is running better but it still stuggles to idle, I am having it checked out again next week when I have time.
The solution to most of the problems causing the EPC light to go on is to replace the Brake light switch.
