codes p0011, p0012 2004 jetta ??? |
|
i have a 2004 jetta 2.0 automatic today when i was going to work i was about 5 min. from my house and the car started to chug and then died. i waited a min then started it and headed back home. the check engine light came on as soon as i started it. when i got home i and checked it, it gave me these codes p0011 and p0012 and it stated : p0011 camshaft position acuator A- bank 1 timing over- advance. and p0012 camshaft position actuator- bank 1 timing over- retard. i had the timing belt replaced about 3,000 mi ago and never had any problem until now. im pretty stumped and dont have the $$ right now for major repairs. any help would be much appreciated

Hello, I looked up those codes and as well looked at other peoples problems. I understand you just replaced your timing belt. However those 2 codes are telling you there is something wrong with your valve timing. I have had to
UN goof a number on various vehicles belt issues . Yes more than one goof was mine. Several things can be but probably are not occurring.
You may have a loose belt. You may have a failing tension bearing. You may have a cam out a tooth. The good news is all of these items can be checked by yourself. First however I would ask the mechanic that changed your belt, 3000
miles ago if perhaps he did not tension the belt correctly. Good luck Allan

Hello, I do all my own work. Sometimes I make mistakes. I replaced the timing belt on my turbo diesel. The procedure calls for a check of the tension after rotating the engine. I very cleverly was in a hurry and did not re check the tension. Very clever of me to be in a hurry. The result was a broken belt and all my hydraulic lifters damaged. Send me your number and we can talk. daemdaem@yahoo.com
