2002 VR6 Jetta won't shift |
|
Hi,
This is my first post on this forum. My husband of course can do his research on why this is going on but I figured I'd give it a whirl to seek further information.
Just a moment ago I got in the car to leave and put the car into Drive, then it wouldn't shift into 3rd gear. This is an automatic transmission Jetta. I do have the "trip tronic" (I think that's how you say it/spell it) option and I attempted to manually shift into 3rd but to no avail. The RPM's were staying in the 3000-4000 range. I drove the car back home and here it sits.
What's wrong with my car? I thought perhaps it was because it was cold and I let the car warm up but same thing happened.
I will say that earlier last week I was noticing that the car was taking a moment to shift into 3rd, causing a "jerk" once it shifted. The RPM's would reach 3000 before finally shifting.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks,
Heather

ETA:
5pm this evening the car was towed to our mechanic. We have fantastic mechanic that specializes in Audi, VW's. They said it's either the trannie or something electrical. They won't know until they pull the codes and test drive the car. My husband got into the car and was able to see what I was referring to. He was also able to shift the car using the trip-tronic all the way to 4th gear. However, when in drive the car will NOT shift. Bizarre to me. So we shall see.
If you'd like I'll keep you posted as to what is wrong with the car. And if you'd like I'll see what codes were pulled when they plug it into the vehicle.
