2000 Passat CD In-Dash Problems |
|
My first post here, my apologies in advance if I am violating any terms of service or rules here.
My parents own a 2000 VW Passat wagon, which features the factory single-disc CD player in dash, and a six-disc CD Changer in the back. As I am sure everyone here is familiar with this layout, the CD Changer controls are located right underneath the CD player on the dash. While they have not had any problems with the CD Changer at all, the single-disc in the dash is a whole different story. My folks very rarely have even used the in-dash CD player, they mostly used the radio or the CD changer, but here is the problem, and hopefully someone knows a fix for this.
Basically when I put a CD disc in the dash CD player, the red light that is illuminating the CD Changer doesn't switch over to the other side which is for the CD player. I make sure to push the "CD" button located on the top right of the stereo, but basically it just spits out the CD. I have tried pre-recorded CD's that you would buy in a store, as well as burned CD's. Nothing works, and I have also ran CD disc cleaners through it. It is as if it doesn't want to read the disc at all, and simply spits it out. Again, the CD changer works just fine, but the single disc in-dash one doesn't at all.
Since my folks have little faith in VW's service department after a few problems in the past, to me this issue sounds pretty basic, or am I wrong in thinking this? Anyone else had this problem, and if so, the end result?
Feel free to email me directly at K5Jon@comcast.net or post here if you can help. Thank you!
Jon
