1996 GTI vr6 idiot light troubles

Hey there,
Just joined the vw website.

I have a 1996 GTI vr6 with tricked out suspention. I love the way it drives nice car!

I'm currently having problems with air bag light coming on intermittently, and my cooling system temp idiot light occasionly blinking, however the gauge appears within normal limits. I recently replaced most of the cooling system due to upper radiator hose blew , upper/lower radiator hoses, all plastic parts etc. coolant reservoir, bad after run water pump. Primary water pump, radiator seems ok. We've traced bad connection in the top (white) connector into the instrument panel (wiggling the connector makes the air bag light flicker). After removing each female pin individually tightening them up and replacing the connector, idiot lights are all jacked up. Something in the connector must be touching. Any ideas besides the obvious recheck the connector and ground?
P.S. There isn't any power to the after run pump pigtail prior to messing with the instrument panel, and the fuse is intact?
