07 Passat windows always fogging up |
|
Has anyone run into this problem? I have a 1 year old 07 Passat 2.0T wagon. During the winter (half the year around here) my windows are always fogged/frosted up. If I go into a store for 10 minutes the windows will be fogged up when I get back. When I park outside, at work or overnight, the windows are covered in frost on the inside. As the car warms up, I sometimes have drops of water melting off the sunroof and landing on my head; water dribbles down the inside of the windows. The dealer said to keep the outside air intake clear (I am) and make sure that the "recirculate air" button is set to outside air (it always is). Nor is there vast quantities of melted snow accumulating in the rubber mats or carpet. I drive around and I'm the only car I can see with this serious a problem. I love this car; it runs great and is fun to drive. But this issue is driving me and my wife crazy. Right now, we would not even consider buying another one. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? Thanks!

Same Problem |
|
I have a 2000 Passat and had the same problem. If you turn on the AC button (so its lit) and turn the temperature knob up near or at max heat it will surprisingly clear up

Same Problem on a 2007 Passat |
|
I had exactly the same problem this year. I'm in Chicago and with the wacky weather we had, I was about to trade it in because of this problem and the moldy smell that never goes away (pollen filter issues - see my other post). The "Auto" button on the passenger side Climate Control dial solved the problem for me. Once you've defrosted your frozen windshield and your on the road switch from defrost to "Auto". I believe this is the Climate Control setting and maintains optimal temperature and humidity. I hope it helps.

Same Here... |
|
When the temp. drops it happened to me in my 2007 VW Passat 2.0T Sedan. The dealer here in Fort Wayne said the same thing. When I kept the vents open at night, it helped I haven't had the problem since.

Hi and thanks for the response. Keep the vents open? Which vents are we talking about?
Thanks

The Recirculated air vents, when I left them open the problem stopped for me.

2001 Passat / window fogging |
|
I have a 2001 Passat and from day on I noticed that the windows fog easily, and I can't get rid of it. It's almost like there is some kind of film on the inside of the glass that won't clean off

Same problem with a 2007 Jetta |
|
I know this is the Passat area, but I"m experiencing the same problem with an 07 Jetta, in Michigan. I have a hard time believing it's a blown heater core, I only have 17k miles on it - but I had NO idea that's one of the things that might cause this issue. It's really frustrating me!!

Touran ice on inside of front windscreen |
|
Hi Guys, i know its a passat forum but i have had a nightmare with my vw touran purchased barand new in september 2008. The 1st winter i had frost on the windscreen inside, took the car back to vw thye could not fault it. It happened again this year, the dealers did not believe me after having the car for 4 nights they told me they could not fault it. I said i want to talk with the general manager as i was not happy they had done nothing positive with the car. Surprise surprise within 5 minutes they called back to say they had themselves found frost on the inside of the car! They had the car now for 21 days they have had all the interior and carpets out, done water tests, humidity tests and even had the windscreen out and found nothing exept a tiny patch of damp in the passenger footwell, which has been resealed and water tested. Within 18 hours of having it back the complete front windscreen has frost on the inside. I have used the A/C as per their instructions. I am at my witsend with this car now. I bought the vehicle on VW's reputation for quality and after sales service and can honestly say its the biggest pile of crap i have ever bought. Does anybody on here have any tips on how to cure this problem as they have done comparison checks on other tourans and the results are the same. I normally drive in the cold with A/C and heat on full to demist the windscreen as per their instructions. Any help would be appreciated.
Rgds
