Post subject:BMW Forum - COLD WEATHER - DOORS WON'T LATCH UNTIL CAR WARMS UP?? |
|
I have a 98 740Il and live in the Boston area and when the cold weather set in I found that sporadically first thing in the morning when I get in the car the drivers door will not latch. I usually start the car and and turn on the defroster and heated seats and after about a minute I try to close the door and it latches fine. Yesterday I got in the car and the same thing happened but after a while the door still wouldn't latch, I manually pushed down the lock button and shut the door and it partially closed but was still loose BUT it also wouldn't open. Then after about two minutes the door shut fully. Only problem then was when I got to work the door would not open at all. (I had to climb over the console.) I tried to get in from outside but although the handle pulled out the latch didn't disengage. When I went out for lunch the door worked just fine! Has anyone else experienced this problem? Today I sprayed some silicone on the latch mechanism to see if that helps |

One of my collegue had a similar problem with his vehicle. But it used to get solved after sometime. It would be better you complain this problem with the company officials so that they can Look up and work better on this for the next Model release. _________________ v7ndotcom elursrebmem

Nah, just let the car get used to the cold weather. It should come around soon.
I don't think there is reason to go to the officials yet. But if it persists, then go right ahead. |

| My only advice for you is to start your car up an extra 5 or so minutes early. That seems like the only way to fix the problem, I don't see how a visit to the auto shop will help any. |

I think this could be an issue with the BMW you have. What year is it?
Some models are known for this problem, and there is nothing you can really do about it unless you want to spend lots of dough. |

Its not a big problem. Its only a starting problem.Just keep trying starting your car again and again,if not then go and meet the dealer. _________________ Audi Q7 2008 Audi Performance Chip |
